Top Leaders Meet Governor Over Pranahitha Changes
A delegation of all Telangana political parties led by Sabitha Reddy urged Narasimhan to stall the proposed design change of the Pranahitha-Chevella project.
A delegation of all political parties led by former home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy today called on Telangana Governor E S L Narasimhan and urged him to stall the proposed design change of the Pranahitha-Chevella project.
Those who met the Governor included Telugu Desam Party leader Prakash Goud, Congress MLAs Vivek and Rammohan Reddy, BJP leader M Anjaiah Yadav, YSR Congress leader Konda Raghava Reddy, and CPI leaders N Bala Mallesh, P Narsing Rao and P Jangaiah.
They brought to the notice of the Governor that the design change would only hamper the interests of the Ranga Reddy and other districts in terms of drinking and irrigation waters.
Later, talking to media persons at Raj Bhavan, Sabitha Reddy stated that KCR's plan to make some changes to the existing design was aimed at looting the peoples' money.
"We have urged the Governor to direct the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to abstain from changing the design, which serves no purpose. Instead of changing the design, the Chief Minister should exert pressure on the Centre to accord national status to the project for speedy completion," she suggested.
The political parties would exert pressure on the government against the proposal if the government failed to maintain status quo, she said, and warned that the leaders would not hesitate to take up a massive protest in this regard.
The former minister also sought that the TRS government focus on welfare and development instead.
