Sudarshan was wanted for alleged involvement in several cases, including the murder of former state Home Minister Madhava Reddy, and an attempt to assassinate Chandrababu Naidu in 2003 at Alipiri.
Maoist leader Sudarshan alias Sriramulu Srinivas was arrested near the town of Wyra in Khammam district on Saturday night. The 55-year-old, originally from Nalgonda, was reportedly apprehended by the police on Saturday, after he had managed to slip past a vehicle check on Friday.
A prominent member of the CPI (M) Andhra-Orissa Border Committee, Sudarshan was wanted for alleged involvement in several grave cases - including the murder of former state Home Minister Madhava Reddy in 1999, an attempt to assassinate former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in 2003 at Alipiri, and the kidnapping of Malkangiri collector Vineel Krishna last year.
Khammam SP A V Ranganath confirmed the arrest of Sudarshan, and disclosed that the Maoist leader had a prize of Rs. 20 lakhs on his head.
