Tollywood actor-comedian Amanchi Venkata Subramanyam, popularly known as AVS, passed away on Friday, after a prolonged liver illness.
He was admitted in the hospital, last week, after his health deteriorated.
AVS who shot to fame with Bapu directed Mr. Pellam in 1993 has acted in more than 400 films.
In the 1990s, AVS was seen in many Telugu films, and was popularly sought for roles that required both emotion and comedy.
He has co-starred with other comedians like Brahmanandam, Ali and Kota Srinivasa Rao.
Some of his memorable characters are in the films Subhalagnam, Yamaleela, Vinodam and Indra.
AVS has also played the role of a writer, producer and director. Super Heroes, Orini Prema Bangaram Kanu, Koti M`ooka and Roommates are his directorial ventures.
He introduced music director Mani Sharma with his directorial venture Super Heroes.
