Actor Allu Arjun was released from the Chanchalguda jail this morning after spending a night in custody.
He had been sent to the jail after a Nampally court remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the stampede case at the Sandhya theatre.
The Telangana High Court granted him interim bail for four weeks on the same day. Despite this, his release was delayed as the court's orders reached the jail authorities after office hours.
To secure his release, the actor's lawyers submitted a surety of Rs 50,000 to the jail superintendent, as mandated by the court.
Upon his release, Arjun visited his Geetha Arts office, where he held discussions with his advocate S Niranjan Reddy for 45 minutes. He then went to his residence, where he had an emotional reunion with his family including his wife Sneha Reddy, his son and his daughter.
Speaking to media persons at his office and home, Arjun expressed gratitude to those who supported him during the ordeal. "I thank everyone who stood by me with love and affection. I am fine, and no one should worry. I am a law-abiding citizen. The incident that occurred at the theatre was unexpected and unintentional. For the past 20 years I have been going to the same theatre to watch movies, not just my own but also those of my uncles, and this was completely unforeseen. The loss suffered by the victim's family is irreparable. I once again express my condolences to the bereaved family," he said.
