Taking cue from the recent adoption of a village by an NRI named Appi Reddy under the Digithon initiative three more NRIs adopted their villages in Nalgonda under Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) Digithon initiative on Independence day.
TITA President Sundeep Kumar Makthala recently during his recent USA visit appealed to NRIs to adopt their respective villages back in Telangana under the scheme after which some NRIs including Appi reddy had responded.
Inspired by Reddy, NRIs Koteshwara Rao, Vinoy and Ram from Canada and US, adopted and sponsored beneficiaries from their native villages Redlakunta, Ipparthy and Gujja, respectively, in the Nalgonda district.
"The TITA team, with its revolutionary vision and strength, is spearheading the initiative and making it a level playing field for villagers and city dwellers to compete in terms of technological education. The team inaugurated digital literacy training under the names - Digital Ipparthy, Digital Gujja and Digital Redlakunta - on the occassion of India's Independence Day, to break the digital illiteracy plaguing rural India. After winning its freedom from the British and the Nizam rule, and Telangana's own freedom from united Andhra Pradesh, it is time to free the State's rural population from illiteracy and poverty," Makthala said.
The NRIs Rao, Vinoy and Ram expressed their enthusiasm in helping their villages progress and their appreciations for TITA's efforts in providing them a platform to do so.
The Digithon program is aimed at imparting basic digital education to rural Telangana on basic computer operations and softwares, using the internet, downloading forms, paying bills online, sending emails and connecting to the society through social media. The inauguration in the three village and their subsequent adoption on the Independence Day anniversary has motivated a lot of villagers.
