Tight Security For RB In Karimnagar
Authorities in Karimnagar district hope that the last lap of the prestigious Rachchabanda program will sail smooth.
Hyderabad | 10th February 2011
Authorities in Karimnagar district as well as in the headquarters are keeping their fingers crossed, hoping that the last lap of the prestigious Rachchabanda program will sail smooth, despite indications that it will have a stormy reception in Kadapa when it is taken up there on Friday.
Indications out that the event will be a litmus test for the Kiran-Jagan relations, as the former was YSR's confidante once.
Meanwhile, the Rachchabanda in Karimnagar is under tight security since local leaders belonging to the Telangana Joint Action Committee were learnt to have been planning to disturb the program.
According to reports reaching the Secretariat, Minister for Civil Supplies Duddilla Sridhar Babu, who hails from Manthani from Karimnagar, has been camping there to ensure peaceful conduct of the event.
Under the command of DIG Sanjay Kumar Jain, two SPs Siva Shankar Reddy and Ammi Reddy, 10 DSPs, 30 CIs, 120 SIs, ASIs, over 1,000 constables, 500 home guards, 300 district guards, and 40 dog squads and bomb squads were pressed into service.
This has led to the feeling that the program is being held under the shadow of a gun.
The JAC is understood to have issued a call for a district bandh, and so the police had started rounding up the JAC leaders since last night.
Despite Sridhar Babu's plea for the successful conduct of the event, the JAC leadership had forewarned that it would stall Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's program.
