Minister for Health T Harish Rao on Saturday launched Tiffa scanning machines that will help pregnant women to understand the functioning of the organs of the fetus, at 44 government hospitals across Telangana.
Rao launched the facility through a video conference from Petlaburj Maternity Hospital in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao expressed happiness over the launch of the machines at a time in 44 hospitals across the State. He said that the State government had spent Rs 20 crore for the purchase of 56 Tiffa scanning machines that had been set up in the 44 hospitals, and that the machines would be helpful to pregnant women a lot as they could detect any problems in fetuses in an early stage.
Private hospitals charged Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 for Tiffa scanning, but the facility was now free for any pregnant woman in all government hospitals, he said.
He added that after the launch of the KCR Kits initiative, institutional deliveries had increased across the State, and that government hospitals had become the first choice for pregnant women. That was because utmost care was being given to mother and child protection in government hospitals, he said.
