Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao today expressed anger over officials who failed to report to duty on time and neglected their responsibilities during working hours.
The minister made an unannounced inspection of the Telangana Agro Industries Development Corporation office. During the visit, he expressed displeasure over the absence of several staff members during official hours.
Thummala also reviewed the biometric attendance system and sought details on whether attendance was being recorded through facial recognition or fingerprints.
He said that the State government was committed to ensuring that all corporations under the Agriculture Department functioned efficiently.
The minister also said that the corporation, which had long served farmers, had become inefficient in recent years, and that the government was taking steps to revitalise it so that it could once again provide effective services to farmers.
Thummala also said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had toured the cyclone-affected areas and witnessed the hardships of farmers firsthand, and assured the latter of full support. He announced that the government had decided to provide crop loss compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre.
He also advised cotton farmers to monitor moisture levels carefully and dry their produce properly to qualify for the minimum support price.
