Three ghastly murders on the roads of Hyderabad over the last 24 hours in the wake of the Attapur "chase and kill" case sent shock-waves across the city.
At B D Reddy gardens in B N Reddy Nagar, which falls under the Meerpet police station limits, a man identified as Srinivas Goud of Thimmarasipally village in Kalwakurthy mandal of Nagarkurnool district was hacked to death by unidentified persons in the wee hours on Thursday.
An extramarital affair is suspected to be the reason behind the gruesome murder.
Upon receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Passersby informed the police that the victim and the assailant had come in a car, and the latter had killed the victim after a heated argument.
Separately, a senior citizen was found dead in FCI Colony in Vanasthalipuram. Police said that the old man might have died due to grievous injuries on his face, and registered a case to further investigate.
In the third incident which occurred at midnight on Wednesday under the Mirchowk police station limits, Mohd Shakeer Qureshi, a 30-year-old auto driver of Chanchalguda, was fatally stabbed by his friend Abdul Khaja, also 30.
The friends had reportedly quarreled over an auto rickshaw being given to a third person by Qureshi near ICICI Bank at Nayapul on Wednesday evening. When Qureshi used foul language, Khaja became furious and inflicted 10 knife injuries on Qureshi's neck, head and throat killing him on the spot.
Even after murdering Qureshi, the assailant sat at the scene in silence. He told the onlookers that he had attacked Qureshi as the latter had abused his mother and sister, and had also threatened to rape them.
The police rushed to the spot and took Khaja into custody, and shifted the body to the mortuary of the nearby Osmania General Hospital.
