A spiritual atmosphere was visible across the State today due to the observance of Toli Ekadasi and Muharram on the same day.
Hindus were seen offering prayers at various temples of the State. All the major temples in the State were flooded with devotees, with queues in some temples seen since the morning. According to the Hindu calendar, Tholi Ekadasi is the day when the day time starts shortening and night time starts increasing. It is observed on Sukla Paksha in the Ashada masam. Mythology has it that Lord Vishnu goes to sleep on this day and wakes up four months later on Prabodhini Ekadasi.
Devotees flocked the Yadagirigutta, Basara, Srisailam, Vemulawada and Bhadrachalam temples. Many believers performed special pujas and observed fasting on the occasion. Devotees in some places faced difficulties due to incessant rains.
Muharram was also observed across Telangana, a State with a significant population of Muslims. Special prayer meetings were held in various mosques of the State.
