Telugu film actor Uday Kiran, who was once a teen heart-throb, committed suicide late Sunday night.
He was found hanging himself from the ceiling of his flat. His wife and some neighbours reportedly rushed him to Apollo Hospitals, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Vajapeyajula Uday Kiran graduated in commerce from Wesley College, Secunderabad. He was Mr. Aptech in the year 1996. He was then introduced to Telugu audiences by film director Teja in the film Chitram, in 2000. Chitram pretty much catapulted him to success, and for the next half a dozen movies, he was a box office favourite. In fact, Nuvvu Nenu won him the Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) in the year 2001. College students of the early 2000s lapped up Manasantha Nuvve, Kalusukovalani, Nee Sneham and Neeku Nenu Naaku Nuvvu, all of which featured popular soundtracks as well.
Uday Kiran was once reported as poised to marry Chiranjeevi's daughter, an alliance which was called off for reasons that were wildly speculated upon. There were rumours and reports flying thick and fast.
Later, Uday Kiran's career started sinking, unrelenting in its downhill path. His last few films disappeared without a trace, with most people not even knowing that he had made a "comeback".
He married on OCtober 24, 2012, to a friend called Vishita.
It is now being speculated that Uday Kiran committed suicide because of depression over financial problems and a stagnant career.
