Cinema shooting in Tollywood will stop from tomorrow.
The Active Telugu Producers Guild has taken a decision to that effect.
The guild has decided to ahead with the stoppage although several movies are under production.
The guild releases a statement explaining the decision. It read, "Post-Pandemic with the changing revenue situations and increasing costs, it has become important for producers to discuss all the issues we are facing as a community of filmmakers. It is our responsibility to better our ecosystem and ensure that we are releasing our films in a healthy environment. In this regard, all members of the Guild have voluntarily decided to withhold shootings from August 1st 2022 to sit in discussions until we find workable resolutions."
That might appear illogical, and there's clearly more there than meets the eye. However, the decision does not appear imposed. A general body meeting of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce held in the city today also decided to extend its support to the guild and stop shootings. The Chairman of the chamber Basi Reddy said that the producers, distributors and exhibitors were not happy with the existing conditions in the film industry - and between those three categories of stake-holders, pretty much the entire industry is covered.
Reddy said that the stake-holders would hold discussions with 24 departments of movie-making very soon.
Producer Dil Raju too said that the industry leaders would all sit together to talk, and would not resume shootings until a solution was found.
Reddy clarified that the decision would however not have any impact on shootings of movies of other languages being held in the city.
The decision will halt the movie shootings of the top actors of Tollywood including Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan.
