Telugu Actress Jayasudha Joins TDP
The ex-MLA, who had been maintaining a low profile in the Congress for some time now, finally joined the TDP in the presence of Chandrababu Naidu today.
Tollywood actress Jayasudha Kapoor, who has been maintaining a low profile in the Congress for some time now, finally joined the Telugu Desam Party in the presence of TDP supremo and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Saturday.
Jayasudha had joined the Congress and won the Secunderabad Assembly seat during the united Andhra Pradesh days in 2009. However, she tasted defeat in the 2014 elections. She remained politically inactive since then.
In view of the changed political situation after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi capturing power in Telangana, Jayasudha was reportedly contemplating resigning from the Congress. She finally joined the Telugu Desam Party today.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayasudha said, "I joined the TDP only to serve the Telugu people effectively as Chandrababu Naidu was the reason for the development of Hyderabad and the creation of Cyberabad. Naidu becoming the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh was the will of God."
She said that she would obey the directions of the party chief. "I will work in both the Telugu States and campaign in the GHMC elections if Naidu orders," she said.
She added that she had stronger relations with Andhra Pradesh than with Telangana. She recalled that she had campaigned for the TDP in the 1999 elections, but joined the Congress eventually. "However, now I am back to the pavilion," she quipped.
