TRS MPs slammed the Centre for failing to fulfill the promises made in the AP Reorganization Act to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi, TRS MPs including TRS Lok Sabha leader Jithendra Reddy, and MPs Kavitha, Vinod Kumar and Narsaiah Goud among others accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of keeping quiet on the promises made by its predecessor in the AP Reorganisation Act, and its "karenge, dekhenge" responses to the issues of Telangana.
Reddy said that no significant project had been offered to Telangana by the Centre so far, and that the state had been fighting for its demands in Parliament for over four years now. He said that the MPs had repeatedly submitted representations to union ministers on the bifurcation issues and sought immediate steps, but to no avail. He said that the Kaleshwaram and the Sita Rama projects, and High Court division were the key issues where the TRS had sought immediate steps. He also said that the Centre had to accord national status to the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.
Reddy criticised the Centre for the lack of progress on the resolution of any of the issues, and said that despite repeated appeals and efforts in Parliament, the Centre was remaining silent.
Later speaking about the defeat of the Congress-led alliance in the Telangana Assembly elections, Vinod Kumar said that the Praja Kutami had bitten the dust miserably after all its lofty claims, and thanked the people for giving a two-thirds mandate to the TRS.
Kavitha said that the people did not trust the Praja Kutami, and exuded confidence that the TRS would win 16 MP seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
