The incidence of Covid-19 has been increasing at a troubling rate in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, considerably dampening the upcoming Holi celebrations.
This spike in cases has been causing much concern among the authorities and the people of the two states alike.
The most recent Covid-19 bulletin released by Telangana's health department reveals that as many as 535 new cases were registered in the state in the past 24 hours. Of these, 154 were reported from within the limits of the capital city's GHMC area.
With this, the state now has more than 4,000 active cases - it currently has a total of 4,495 actives cases, and 1,979 people are under home isolation. This has pushed up the cumulative case tally to a whopping 3,06,339.
Further, while there were 278 recorded recoveries, three persons succumbed to the disease yesterday. With this, the total number of Covid-19-related deaths in Telangana has reached 1,688. Reports say that the fatality rate in Telangana is 0.55% against a national average of 1.4%.
The spike has even forced the TRS government to order the educational institutions in the state to
suspend on-site classes for the time being. However, it seems like the government currently has no plans of
implementing a fresh lockdown.
