The TRS today slammed opposition parties the Congress and the BJP for their remarks against the Telangana government on the AP government's "unilateral" decision to use the Srisailam waters.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly media point, TRS MLC and whip Karne Prabhakar accused the opposition of trying to politicise the issue.
"The government will fight against AP's decision to draw waters, which is against the reorganisation act. Our Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao publicly opposed the issue on May 11," he said.
"We have asked the AP government to respect the apex body, the water board, with regard to using the river waters. AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy is going against the norms despite KCR offering a friendly hand," he added.
He admonished the Congress and the BJP for trying to blame the TRS government. Denying as baseless the allegations that KCR had colluded with the AP government, he said that the CM's top priority was to get the state its rightful share of waters from the Krishna Basin.
"We have already approached the Krishna water board, and will move the Supreme Court to get justice," he said. "The Chief Minister has asked the officials to move the apex court to protect the interests of Telangana. Our objective is to take our share of the waters of the rivers as per the agreed norms. And instead of criticizing us, the Congress should come out to support the TRS to fight the AP government's proposal legally."
