TDP Condemns KCR's Restrictions On Media
Telangana TDP President L Ramana said journalists had played a big role during the Telangana agitation, and restrictions on them humiliated the entire fraternity.
Telangana TDP President L Ramana strongly condemned the TRS government's move to impose restrictions on the movement of the media in the state secretariat.
Speaking to media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan, Ramana said that Hyderabad was the joint capital of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. "When the neighbouring state is not facing any problems with the media's entry into its secretariat, why is Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao afraid of allowing the media into the Telangana secretariat?" he asked.
Ramana said that KCR had reached this level only due to the support of the media. He said that journalists and media organisations had played a commendable role during the Telangana agitation, and by imposing restrictions on them, KCR was humiliating the entire fraternity.
He alleged that KCR had sought the media's help during the Telangana agitation, but was now viewing their presence as harmful to his government.
The TDP leader said that former Chief Minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy had imposed similar restrictions on the media in 2007, and now KCR was repeating the same mistake.
He accused KCR of beginning his offensive against the media by imposing a ban on the TV9 and ABN Andhra Jyothi news channels, and said that now he was treating all media persons as his enemies.
Speaking about the proposal to drain out the Hussain Sagar, Ramana demanded that the state government first take the opinion of experts and then convene an all-party meeting before taking a final decision. (INN)
