Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has claimed that the Intensive Household Survey held across the 10 districts of Telangana was a super hit.
Addressing a press conference at his camp office on Tuesday evening, KCR thanked the people for their cooperation in making the survey a grand success.
He also praised the employees, students and volunteers who worked effectively as enumerators.
By 6pm, he said, the survey was complete in almost 88% of the households in Hyderabad.
Due to the extension of the time allowed till 10pm, he hoped that 100% of the households in the GHMC limits would be covered.
The Chief Minister said that it was found during the survey that there were nearly 20 lakh households in the GHMC limits. Prior to the survey, the figure was estimated at 15.82 lakhs.
Although the exact figures related to the population and its composition would come out only after the analysis, it could be estimated that the city's population had crossed the one crore mark, he stated.
He said that these statistics would help the government in understanding the implications for basic needs like drinking water and energy for the citizens.
KCR said that the survey findings would help the government in designing relevant schemes for the target groups.
New ration cards, pensions and other welfare measures would be implemented based on the findings of the survey, he said.
He added that the survey data would be available to all relevant officials from the Chief Secretary to those in Gram Panchayats.
He also dismissed the allegations of manipulation of the survey in some areas.
KCR advised the CMs of other States to conduct similar surveys themselves, to gain better data and extend welfare schemes to the real beneficiaries. (INN)
