Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, on Friday, blamed opposition parties for the Centre's
decision of granting statehood for the Telangana region.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Botsa said that as PCC chief, he gave his bosses his opinion in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh.
"Telugu Desam Party, YSR Congress Party and other opposition groups earlier supported the Telangana demand. Except MIM and CPI (M), no other party openly opposed Telangana statehood. Based on the opinions of the opposition parties, the Congress High Command decided to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh. However, now these parties are trying to gain political mileage by targeting the Congress itself," he said.
Meanwhile, Botsa appealed to the people in the Seemandhra region to remain calm. He also condemned the demolition of statues of national leaders in these areas. (INN)
