Hyderabad | 1st January 2021
Noted Narayankhed journalist Sangappa, associated with the popular Telugu news channel V6, today joined the BJP.

Sangappa was formally inducted into the party in the presence of the Telangana BJP head Bandi Sanjay Kumar and several other party leaders.

He is, reportedly, likely to contest in the 2023 Assembly elections from the Narayankhed Assembly constituency.

Speaking on the occasion, Kumar welcomed the senior journalist into the party, and added that the latter's foray into politics would help in bringing the problems being faced by the journalists of the state to the fore.

"Due to his vast experience of the field, Sangappa is well aware of the plight of the journalists, and is also familiar with the apathy of the TRS regime towards them. His decision to join politics will enable him to work towards ameliorating the journalists' plight greatly," the BJP chief said.

Party leader and former minister G Vivek Venkatswamy, and former chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council Swami Goud, who recently joined the saffron party himself, also extended their good wishes to Sangappa on the occasion.

"Sangappa has been involved in the state's public life for years now. He played a key role in spreading the Telangana movement to all parts of the state as well. He is a conscientious journalist whose addition to the BJP has only further strengthened our party's ability to serve the people of the state. His deep understanding of the problems plaguing Telangana will enable him to become a good leader," Venkatswamy said.

Swami Goud added that the addition to the party would give it more strength in the 2023 Assembly elections.

Having been a journalist for the last 25 years, Sangappa enjoys a good rapport with the TRS top brass, and the Congress and the BJP leaders of the state as well. The senior journalist began his career with Eenadu, the most widely circulated vernacular newspaper across the two Telugu-speaking states, and then went on to work with the news channel I News before finally joining V6.
