The SEC has been gearing up for tomorrow's MLC elections in the graduates' constituencies of Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam and Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy.
With the MLC elections in the graduates' constituencies of Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam and Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy now just a day away, the State Election Commission (SEC) has been busy making preparations for the same.
The election commission, in coordination with various other state officials, has reportedly made several fool-proof arrangements for the smooth and fair conduct of the elections.
As many as 799 polling booths have been set up across the six districts so that the voters can easily access the same. This will also help avoid crowded queues at the venues, in keeping with the Covid-19 social distancing norms.
As there are a whopping 93 candidates in the fray for the two posts this time, the election body has arranged for big ballot boxes, and have reportedly put in place 1,589 jumbo-sized ballot boxes, with 324 backup boxes. The SEC has recruited 3,835 personnel to conduct the polling for the elections. This includes 959 presiding officers and 2,876 polling officials. For added security, the entire process will be monitored through CCTV cameras and webcasting.
More than 5.31 lakh voters will likely cast their votes at the booths tomorrow, out of which 3.36 lakh are male while 1.95 lakh are female voters. Reports also say that Malkajgiri has the highest number of registered voters at 1.31 lakh, whereas Narayanpet has the lowest with just 13,899.
In the Hyderabad segment, voters in the Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Vikarabad, Gadwal, Narayanpet, Nagarkurnool, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, and Rangareddy districts will all exercise their franchise in the MLC elections.
The counting of the votes will take place at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium on March 17. The remaining election-related procedures will be completed by March 22, SEC officials revealed.
