The Sangareddy police today registered a case against MLA, TPCC working president and Congress leader Jagga Reddy for allegedly obstructing officials from performing their election duties during the municipal polls held yesterday.
The case was filed following directions from the State Election Commission (SEC).
The police booked him under Sections 223, 351, 352, 132 and 329 of the IPC, at the Sangareddy police station.
Responding to the case, Reddy said in a press note that he had intervened at a polling booth after a Circle Inspector allegedly manhandled and insulted a Congress leader.
He said that he had confronted the officer to defend his party colleague, and accused the CI of acting in favour of a rival party candidate.
He maintained that although he could have approached senior officials, he chose to intervene immediately to address the situation.
Reddy also demanded action against the concerned police officer, alleging a deliberate disruption of law and order.
The TPCC working president also accused BRS leaders K T Rama Rao and Harish Rao of spreading false narratives on the social media portraying him as attacking officials, and countered by alleging past misconduct by BRS leaders towards police personnel.
