Several TSRTC employees who have been on strike tried to return to their duties across the State today, but were sent back by their managers.
Some 280 TSRTC employees (though it is not clear if they continue to be employees) of the Rajanna-Sircilla district met district RTC depot manager Srinivasa Rao and requested him to allow them to resume duties immediately. However, the crew had to go back when the manager informed them that he had not received any order from the higher-ups, and he would readmit them after receipt of a communication to that effect.
Likewise, in the capital, some 300 employees of the Uppal depot and 60 of the Maheshwaram depot approached the authorities to allow them to rejoin duties, and when disallowed, raised slogans asking the management to allow them to rejoin. Uppal depot manager B Venka Reddy said that the matter had been taken to the notice of higher officials, and that a response was awaited from them.
RTC employees of the Hanamkonda bus depot too faced a similar situation when they announced that they were ready to resume their duties at once. They then urged the management to allow them to rejoin without any pre-conditions as the strike had affected them seriously financially.
On Wednesday, after day-long meetings, the JAC leaders had expressed their willingness to withdraw the strike, but said that neither the RTC management nor the government should impose any conditions on the employees when they returned to work.
The strike, they said, would continue till the government responded to this condition.
