Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today requested the RTC workers to reconsider their planned strike and instead cooperate with the State government.
This appeal comes after the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) workers' union's
decision to initiate a Statewide strike from May 7, citing the government's failure to meet their long-standing demands.
During his speech at the May Day celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi, the Chief Minister said that the TGSRTC was just beginning to recover from its losses and on the path to profitability, and it was the responsibility of the workers to safeguard their corporation.
It was unwise for employees to strike at this critical time, and they should instead work to safeguard the corporation in every way possible, he said.
"In the last 10 years, the previous BRS government exploited and looted the corporation financially. Don't fall prey to the Opposition leaders, who have not contributed anything in the past decade and are yet trying to misguide you. If there are any issues, it is recommended that the workers and the union leaders engage in a dialogue with the relevant minister, rather than demand immediate action. We will allocate all the revenue directly to you, and it will be your responsibility to recommend how to utilise those funds. I won't take any of it for personal use; everything will be dedicated to the advancement of the corporation," Reddy said.
"Have faith in me. I will support you if you place your trust in me," he added.
The Chief Minister also added that the State's economy was beginning to bounce back and expressed optimism for further recovery in the coming year, asserting that nothing could hinder the growth of Telangana.
