Releasing guidelines for the waivers of crop loans of upto Rs 2 lakh, the State government today announced that it would take ration cards as the criterion for the identification of the beneficiary families.
The government also said that a separate web portal had been set up for crop loan waiver.
According to the guidelines issued by the government, the Rs 2 lakh loan waiver is applicable to every farmer family owning land in Telangana. Loans taken from December 12, 2018, to December 9, 2023, will be waived off, and the loan waiver amounts will be released in ascending order.
The waiver amounts will be directly credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through the DBT mode. In case of PACS, the loan waiver amount will be released to the relevant DCCBs or bank branches. The banks will deposit the loan waiver amounts into the farmers' accounts in the PACS.
The scheme is applicable to short term crop loans, and to the crop loans taken by farmers from the branches of Scheduled Banks, Regional Rural Banks and District Co-operative Central Banks in Telangana.
If any family has a loan amount of more than Rs 2 lakh, it will have to repay the loan amount to the bank first. After that, Rs 2 lakh will be transferred to the loan account of the family.
In cases where the loan is more than Rs 2 lakh, the loan taken by the women in the family should be waived off first.
