The number of reported Covid-19 cases has been falling in Telangana over the past few weeks. However, in the last 24 hours, the state recorded 1,175 fresh cases and ten deaths, a bulletin re1eased by the health department revealed.
On the other hand, health officials stated that Telangana saw 1,771 recoveries yesterday, taking up the state's cumulative recovery tally to 6.15 lakh. Currently, the death rate in the state is 0.58% as compared to a national fatality rate of 1.3%, while the recovery rate is 96.71%, also higher than the national average.
Amidst talks of a third wave, the KCR government has intensified the ongoing vaccination drive in the state and is also working to improve healthcare facilities across both urban and rural areas.
But, with cases falling in recent weeks, the Telangana Cabinet
lifted the lockdown that was being enforced in the state since May on June 20. Further, it also decided to reopen Telangana's educational institutions by July 1.
The state's education department is currently making preparations for the reopening. It has been instructed to ensure that all the institutions follow the relevant Covid-19 guidelines after the resumption of classes.
Though the lockdown restrictions have been lifted, the government has explicitly urged the people of the state to continue to observe all the pandemic prevention norms even after the implementation of the relaxations, and has been cautioning them against any negligent or reckless behaviour.
