With coronavirus cases increasing in the GHMC area and the districts, the Telangana government is planning to offer free Covid-19 testing in a few private medical colleges.
According to reports, the government has selected three such institutions to operate in addition to the government hospitals already offering free tests and treatment - Malla Reddy Medical College, Mamatha Medical College and Kamineni Medical College.
The government has reportedly decided to permit the private medical colleges to conduct free coronavirus tests and even offer treatment to those infected.
The government may give the nod to other private medical colleges to do the same if the experiment with these three colleges works well.
The government has already given permission to some private labs to conduct the tests.
The state has 37,745 Covid cases currently and has seen 375 deaths from the disease so far.
