To add to the cash woes of the public, petrol bunks in Telangana will not accept credit or debit cards from Monday onwards, in protest against the Central government's decision to make dealers pay the service charges of customers.
This was stated by Indian Petroleum Dealers Association Joint Secretary Amaram Rajiv. He opposed the government decision to collect additional charges of 2.5% on diesel and 3.2% on petrol being collected by the petrol bunks across the state. This would hamper the petroleum business, and the government should desist from the decision, he demanded.
The petrol bunks are noted for encouraging the customers to make use of their debit and credit cards always, even before the demonetization drive. As a result of the present decision, customers at the petrol bunks will have to cough out cash from January 9, i.e., from Monday.
Petrol bunks dealers will start erecting notices/banners at their premises against the acceptance of debit and credit cards from Sunday night.
