The rank and file of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi staged protests across Telangana today, opposing the union government's decision to hike the prices of commercial and domestic LPG cylinders.
The Centre had hiked the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 50 and that of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 350 with effect from March 1.
Protesting against the Centre's decision, huge rallies and rasta rokos were organised in all the district headquarters and towns across the State.
Ministers Harish Rao, Gangula Kamalakar, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Malla Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Jagadish Reddy and other elected representatives participated in the demonstrations in various places across the State.
In the city, Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav led an agitation at M G Road, Secunderabad, with scores of BRS workers participating.
At Ghatkesar on the outskirts of the city, a dharna was organised by Minister Malla Reddy. Finance Minister Harish Rao also took part in the protest.
Protests were also organised in the Kompally, Dundigal and Nizampet municipalities by party activists, with MLC Shambhipur Raju, BRS Medchal district president and other leaders present.
