Several activists belonging to the Telangana People's Front JAC tried to storm the residence of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof. M Kodandaram, at Tarnaka, on Friday.
Raising slogans against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Kodandaram, the agitators alleged that the TP-JAC chairman had gone to New Delhi to discuss a "financial package" to dilute the Sakala Janula Samme (the govt. employees' strike demanding statehood for the Telangana region).
TPF-JAC convenor Gajjela Kantham sought an explanation from Kodandaram on why he had discontinued the Telangana agitation midway after his return from New Delhi.
Alleging that Kodandaram was behaving like former chief minister Marri Chenna Reddy, Kantham asked him to explain why he had gone to New Delhi without being invited by the Centre.
He asked Kodandaram and TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao to give a detailed explanation on what had transpired between them and the Congress High Command during the visit.
Kantham alleged that when lakhs of employees have been putting their salaries at stake while being part of the Telangana strike, Kodandaram had suddenly reversed his stand and forced the JACs to withdraw from the agitation.
He also sought an explanation from TRS leaders over the allegations of the allotment of contracts for the Polavaram irrigation project.
Meanwhile, TRS and TPJAC activists arrived at the spot and raised slogans against Gajjela Kantham, for criticizing Kodandaram.
Tension prevailed at the spot for some time, but the police swung into action and dispersed both the groups.
A few activists who tried to storm into Kodandaram's residence were also taken into custody. They were later shifted to a nearby police station. (INN)
