A Telangana opposition all-party delegation today called on Governor E S L Narasimhan and lodged its protest against the TRS government's move to constitute "Rythu Samanvaya Samithis" (farmer co-ordination committees) in villages across the state.
Speaking to the media after meeting the Governor, Congress leader Bhatti Vikramarka said that GO No 39 would help only TRS leaders, who would use it for political mileage. It would not benefit the farmers, and the Opposition parties had complained in this regard to the Governor, who responded positively, he said.
TDP Telangana president L Ramana alleged that GO 39 was totally against the Constitution, and that the TRS government wanted to use it for its political gain in the name of farmers and to protect the interests of the land mafia. He demanded that the government withdraw the GO immediately.
Telangana JAC chairman M Kodandaram said that he would soon organize a meeting in the capital city demanding withdrawal of GO No 39. All political parties had demanded repeal of the GO, and protest meetings would be held in villages across the state on October 2 against it, he said.
