The TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Thursday, stated that the statehood agitation has reached a "critical stage", and that he would announce the course of action he plans to take on 17 January.
As the chief guest in the Poru Prabhanjanam at Palamuru in Mahbubnagar district, KCR reiterated that he would intensify his agitation after Sankranthi.
He said that this time the agitation would be "very serious", and that the Centre will have to bow down to the demand of statehood, respecting the sentiments of people.
Further, he added that the people of the region have been demanding statehood for 11 years, and that therefore, the Centre must not test the patience of the people.
He alleged that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu have been conspiring, and are resorting to illegal arrests of Telangana activists in order to dilute the agitation.
The event saw TDP activists from the region joining the TRS.
Former minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Jitender Reddy, Niranjan Reddy, Lakshma Reddy and Vittal Rao also took part in the program. (INN)
