This is probably it, people. Today's the big day. Congress big-wigs are powdering their noses and getting ready to convene at 5:30pm for the Congress Working Committee meeting in the national capital.
As can be inferred from the verabl assurances that party members and various political leaders have been doling out so far, there is most likely going to be a decision in favour of Telangana before the day ends.
Due to this, a fervent state of anticipation has gripped the state, and additional security measures have been put in place, in case of sudden brawls breaking out in the streets.
It has been reported that nearly 1000 paramilitary personnel have been deployed within the state, a major number having been assigned to the coastal regions of Rayalseema.
While some sources claim that in addition to this, 4 paramilitary troops have been stationed within Hyderabad, others maintain that 200 officers of the Karnataka Armed Police, and around 100 officers of the Tamil Nadu Armed Police have been stationed in the state capital and the surrounding areas.
Tensions abound in the coastal Andhra region and the Rayalaseema region. Kadapa, and Kurnool have reportedly witnessed police marches in anticipation of the Telangana decision, and the resulting protests that are sure to erupt across the length of both Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra.
Meanwhile, security arrangements in the places in coastal Andhra Pradesh, like Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam, have also been tightened.
It has also been reported that some students in Kurnool have struck the statue of Potti Sreeramalu, the man who has often been proclaimed as being the one who was responsible for the formation of Andhra Pradesh.
In the Andhra University's campus in Vizag, paramilitary and special forces teams have been installed as wide-scale disturbance is expected to break out at any moment.
