YSRCP MLA P Srikanth Reddy, on Monday, said that the Centre could not impose Rayala-Telangana on the people of the Rayalaseema region.
Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises, Srikanth Reddy said that Rayala-Telangana or even Telangana had never been demanded by the people of Rayalaseema.
"Therefore," he said, "the Centre had no right to kill Rayalaseema's identity by first dividing it, and then merging its parts to form two states".
Srikanth Reddy said that if the division of that state was inevitable, then the Centre should trifurcate the state by forming the individual states of Telangana, Rayalaseema and Andhra.
He also welcomed the resignation of IPS officer S M Iqbal for the cause of united Andhra Pradesh. (INN)
