Stealing the thunder from Congress lawmakers' proposed Telangana showdown today, 35 TDP MLAs have resigned from their posts for the cause of a separate Telangana state.
This, when the Congress has only 5 resignations in its count so far (until about 12:30 pm).
Telugu Desam Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly Motkupalli Narasimhulu, of of the MLAs who had resigned, even said that they didn't need party President Chandrababu Naidu's permission for this move. He said the Telangana TDP leaders were ready to do anything for the cause of a Telangana.
Earlier, MP Errabelli Dayakar Rao had
said that Telangana leaders from the TDP would resign following their Congress counterparts.
However, now, the Telugu Desam Party seems to now have a moral victory in the eyes of a large section of Telangana activists who feel that creating a Constitutional crisis (by way of elected leaders resigning from their posts) in the state is the only way the government will give in to their demands.
