In a fresh twist to the Telangana crisis unfolding in Andhra Pradesh, all the 11 MLAs from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi have submitted their resignations to the Assembly Speaker.
The latest development takes the count of resigned MLAs to 93.
At the Centre as well, 2 TDP MPs have quit from the Lok Sabha.
The following is the split up of resignations, in the Assembly and in the Lok Sabha, that have been sent in for the Telangana cause:
Assembly Congress: 43 TDP: 37 TRS: 11 Total: 91
Lok Sabha Congress: 9 TDP: 2 TRS: 2 Total: 13
In addition, 17 MLCs have also resigned, as did 1 Rajya Sabha MP.
It is another matter that the Speakers of the Lok Sabha and the Assembly have not accepted the resignations yet. They will do so after one-to-one discussions with the leaders who have sent in their resignations.
There are now 24 MLAs from the Telangana region who have not resigned yet. Many of them belong to the Congress.
2 BJP MLAs and 2 CPI MLAs are also reportedly set to step down today.
