New District Protests: 7 Sircilla Councillors Quit

Protests erupted today in Sircilla (Karimnagar), Telangana, demanding that the government add the area to the list of the new districts.

Seven district municipal councillors, three each from the BJP and Congress, and one from the TDP, submitted their resignations to mark the protest.

Leaders of several political parties in the Opposition and several district court advocates organized separate protests on the streets in support of the demand. Protests were organized in several mandals in the district. Residents of Mustabad gathered at the Ambedkdar crossroads with around 300 tractors and staged a "rasta roko" and clogged the roads.
