Maoists, who had caused a sensation by abducting six TRS leaders of the Bhadrachalam Assembly segment on Wednesday, released them from captivity early Saturday morning.
The ultras reportedly released the captives at the Chattisgarh border.
The ruling party's mandal-level leaders
had been abducted a few kilometres away from the sensitive and porous Khammam-Chhattisgarh border earlier this week. It created ripples among the ruling party cadre in the far-flung tribal pockets of the Bhadrachalam Agency area.
The TRS leaders abducted by the Maoists were Maane Ramakrishna, Poosuguppa former sarpanch Ooika Ramakrishna, TRS Charla mandal former president Patel Venkateshwara Rao, former TRS secretary Santhapuri Suresh, Vajedu mandal party president Dabbakatla Janardhan and Venkatapuram TRS party mandal secretary Dekka Sathyanarayana. They had been kidnapped at Poosuguppa village under the Charla mandal on Wednesday.
The TRS leaders reached Charla on Saturday morning. Their family members heaved a huge sigh of relief over the safe releases.
The TRS leaders said that the Maoists had released them stating that the State government should stop fake encounters and the Green Hunt operation.
