Municipal Strike: Leaders Arrested At Secretariat
Seeking an end to the strike by municipal sanitation workers, the leaders of all Opposition parties stormed the secretariat to meet KCR, and got arrested.
Seeking an urgent end to the ongoing strike by municipal sanitation workers across the state, the leaders of almost all Opposition parties today stormed the Telangana secretariat and made a vain bid to meet Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Much to the chagrin of the Chief Minister, the leaders of the CPM, CPI, TDP and YSR Congress Party barged into the nerve centre of the government when KCR was reportedly busy holding a high-level review meeting on the new liquor policy that is likely to be announced soon.
They staged a protest at the C block of the Chief Minister and sought an immediate solution to the pending issue of the sanitation workers.
They lambasted the Chief Minister for his rigid attitude in resolving the striking workers' just demand of a pay hike on par with that offered to the GHMC workers. The government was unleashing terror among the working classes, who cannot make ends meet, they lamented.
The leaders T Veera Bhadram and Chada Venkat Reddy (secretaries of the CPM and the CPI respectively), Telugu Desam Party floor leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Siva Kumar, Raghava Reddy and others were later arrested.
