The Congress fielded candidates for only five of the eight Telangana MLC seats that it said it would contest for.
The Party leadership tried to field the District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents in the other three places, but they refused.
The Congress is thus now fielding candidates in only five places - the Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Medak and Nizamabad districts.
In Khammam, the Congress is extending its support to the CPI candidate.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, TPCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy confirmed that it was not fielding its candidates in the Adilabad, Karimangar and Warangal districts. He said that he had taken that decision as he didn't receive proper proposals from the local DCC presidents.
He said that the Party had given the green signal to Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy from Nalgonda, Chandrashekar from Rangareddy, Damodar Reddy from Mahabubnagar, Venkatarama Reddy from Nizamabad and Shivraj Patil from Medak.
The election for the 12 MLC seats will be held on December 27. The TRS is contesting all seats. The TDP and BJP have not fielded any candidates in some of the seats, and so the contest will be only between the ruling TRS and he main Opposition Party the Congress.
The TRS has launched its efforts for a unanimous win in the places where the TDP, BJP and the Congress have not fielded candidates.
According to political analysts, the Congress' Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy will give tough competition to the ruling Party candidate Tera Chinnapa Reddy in the Nalgonda district. But the TRS is confident that it will easily win the seat.
