Telangana legislators and former legislators are all set to get a hike in their salaries and pensions if the Amenities Committee recommendations are approved by the government.
The Amenities Committee which met at a committee hall in the Assembly premises during the lunch hour today suggested a steep hike in salaries for the legislators, to Rs 3.5 lakh from Rs 1.25 lakh per month.
Telangana Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, Council Chairman Swamy Goud, ministers T Harish Rao and E Rajender, and the floor leaders of all Parties attended the meeting.
The meeting after discussions also recommended a hike in the pension to Rs 65,000 from Rs 50,000 per month for former legislators, and making the pensions of legislators after their deaths payable to their spouses. It also suggested increasing vehicle loans to Rs 40 lakhs from Rs 25 lakhs.
The committee also recommended the provision of healthcare facilities to current and former legislators without any cap on financial expenditure.
