Telangana Ministers Rejoin Work

Almost all the Telangana ministers who deserted their offices have decided to be back at the Secretariat.
Hyderabad | 19th August 2011
First, they hit the headlines by resigning as legislators on 4 July along with the others, for the cause of a separate Telangana.

They continued to remain in the limelight for quite a long period by abstaining from work to express their patriotism towards Telangana.

However, almost all the Telangana ministers who deserted their offices have decided to be back at the Secretariat.

3 ministers - Damodar Rajanarsimha, Danam Nagender and Mukesh Goud - never resigned, and would attend work.

However, 12 other Telangana ministers, who had submitted their resignations as MLAs, weren't reporting to work even after their resignations were rejected by the Speaker.

But now, except Infrastructure Development Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, everyone has now taken a U-turn, having joined their duties.

They do seem to suffer from some kind of political uncertainty, though. A few of them have expressed apprehensions over their re-entry into the 2014-cabinet if their party returned to power.

Irrigation Minister P Sudhrashan Reddy has opted for a darshan in Tirupati before resuming his duties. Home Minister P Sabitha Reddy and Horticulture Minister Ramreddy Venkatreddy were seen a today entering their official chambers to begin their innings again after a long 'paid' break.

Minister for Information & Public Relations D K Aruna had already made her presence felt on the day of the Cabinet briefing at the Secretariat. She was part of the World Photography celebrations, while pragmatic Minister for Endowments & Information Technology Ponnala Laxmiah attended an official function at Taj Deccan in Hyderabad today.

Another Telangana minister K Jana Reddy from Nalgonda returned post-haste from Kerala to attend the recent Cabinet meeting. The minister reportedly had to cut short his medical holiday in Kerala.

Why did they choose today to report back for duties? It being Shravana Sukravaram (Friday) might have prompted them to come back to the corridors of power today, since the day is one of the most auspicious in the Hindu calendar. (INN)
