» Telangana Millennium March: Sridhar Babu Appeals To TPJAC To Postpone March
"Millennium March Will Affect Student
Sridhar Babu has appealed to the TPJAC to postpone the Millenium March scheduled to be held on March 10th, in view of the intermediate students' examinations.
Minister for Civil Supplies and Legislative Affairs D Sridhar Babu on Friday appealed to the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TPJAC) to postpone the Millennium March scheduled to be held on March 10, considering the interests of Intermediate students.
Talking to mediapersons at the Congress Legislature Party office, the minister said that the students are worried that the march would affect their studies, and that they might not do well in the public examinations. This, in turn, will also affect their chances at the national-level competitive examinations, the minister stated.
As the Millennium March would affect the students' careers and future, Sridhar Babu appealed to the TPJAC to reconsider its decision and postpone the protest.
He said that the state government and the Congress party have been making sincere efforts towards addressing the Telangana problem by mounting pressure on the Centre.
Reacting to the Endowment Minister's resignation which was sent to Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday to press for an early decision on the separate statehood demand, Sridhar Babu hinted that he might not follow Jupalli Krishna Rao's suit and put in his papers.
"I have not made a similar promise," he said.
He added that being a minister will give him more scope to highlight the Telangana issue and bring it to the notice of the party high command.
"As a minister I can have more accessibility to the high command," he stated.
