This year, the Telangana government will reportedly be organising a massive tree plantation drive to mark the birthday of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, on February 17.
Ministers E Dayakar Rao and V Srinivas Goud today released a poster for the upcoming plantation program, the "Koti Vriksha Archana".
Speaking on the occasion, they said, "We are organising a tree plantation program on February 17, the birthday of our CM. As many as 1 crore saplings will be planted across the state from 10 am to 11 am during the program. This will be a meaningful way to celebrate the occasion as it will surely lead to a substantial increase in green cover across Telangana. We have always been committed to protecting the environment, and to creating a harmonious and liveable environment for the people of the state. This is another step in that direction."
"We have already planted 250 crore plants in six phases of the Haritha Haram program that began in 2015. This has resulted in a green cover increase of 4% in the state. We hope the upcoming plantation drive will also contribute to our efforts in the same way," the ministers added.
Urging the people of the state to take part in the event, they said, "We hope that the program will be a grand success, and will see the participation of large numbers of people across the state. All the public representatives at all levels will also be involved in the event."
TRS working president K T Rama Rao was also seen promoting the plantation drive today. He, along with ministers Mohammad Mahmood Ali and Talasani Srinivas Yadav, and MP Maloth Kavitha, released a poster for the same.
