Congress MPs and MLAs from Telangana met Governor E S L Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday, and submitted a memorandum demanding the dismissal of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission chairman Y Venkatarami Reddy, as allegations of irregularities were pouring in against the chairman.
Talking to media persons after submitting the memorandum to the Governor, MP Mandha Jagannatham said that the delegation sought action against the APPSC Chairman for serious irregularities in recruitments.
Jagannatham revealed that the delegation also urged the Governor to cancel the Group-1 preliminary examination which was conducted by APPSC on September 5th, as the question paper was leaked within 15 minutes of commencement of the examination.
Jagannatham revealed that the delegation had also urged the Governor to order the APPSC to re-conduct the examination, as poor attendance was reported in many Telangana centres due to the bandh called by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which was spearheading a demand of 42% quota in recruitments for people belonging to the Telangana region.
Jagannatham said the governor responded favourably to the delegation demands, but also expressed helplessness to initiate steps regarding the cancellation of the exam, as the APPSC was a constitutional body.
The delegation comprised of MPs Sarvy Satyanarayana, G Surender Reddy, Rajaiah, Balaram Naik and MLA R Damodar Reddy.
