Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TPJAC) chairman Prof. M Kodandaram on Tuesday appealed to the people of Telangana not to get misled by the "propaganda" being carried out by Seemandhra leaders.
Speaking to media persons after the TPJAC's steering committee meeting at the state BJP headquarters at Nampally, Kondandaram said that Seemandhra leaders are making their last efforts to stall the process of the state's bifurcation, but that the Telangana state would be a reality in the next few days, and all "conspiracies" would fall flat. He also made it clear that the BJP has not changed its stand on the Telangana issue.
State BJP president G Kishan Reddy accused Congress and TDP leaders of spreading rumours stating that the BJP had changed its stand on Telangana. He insisted that the BJP had not changed its stand, and that it would support the Telangana Bill in the Parliament.
He said that a statement of BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was given a twist by Seemandhra leaders by a section of the media. He said such efforts were being made to delay or derail the process of formation of the Telangana state. He in fact expressed confidence that the 2014 elections would be held in the two states of Telangana and Seemandhra. (INN)
