The two-day-long gaming event hosted by NVIDIA provides a chance for gamers from across India to bond, interact and explore new avenues in gaming.
The fifth version of Gamer Connect 2017, hosted by NVIDIA, was held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
A platform for the Indian gaming community, the event saw gamers from across Telangana in attendance.
Gamer Connect is believed to bring gaming enthusiasts from across the country under one roof and provide them a chance to bond, interact and explore new avenues in gaming. The event also gives participants an opportunity to experience the latest in PC gaming technology.
The event witnessed over 100 demo stations showcasing the latest games including Call of Duty WW II, Destiny 2, Middle Earth: Shadow of War, NFS Payback and Assassin's Creed Origins.
In 2017, NVIDIA had conducted four editions of the event before this, in Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Lucknow. The Hyderabad edition of the event was inaugurated by Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao in the presence of senior executives from NVIDIA and from partners including Dell, LG, Zotac and HyperX.
Inaugurating the two-day gaming event, KTR said, "The government has identified animation, visual effects and gaming as key growth engines for tech exports and employment generation. Hyderabad is already employing close to 30,000 people in 100 animation and gaming companies, and in 2D and 3D studios. The Telangana government has recently laid the foundation for IMAGE Tower (Innovation in Multimedia, Animation, Gaming & Entertainment), a world-class facility for the gaming sector. It is wonderful to see leaders from the gaming industries including NVIDIA, Dell, LG, Zotac and HyperX come together to give gaming enthusiasts a fantastic experience through technologies like 4K, Virtual Reality and superior hardware. This will only help boost our economy and further develop the gaming industry," he added.
Also speaking on the occasion, Managing Director, South Asia, NVIDIA, Vishal Dhupar said, "Gamer Connect is NVIDIA's platform for the Indian gaming community to bond, interact and explore new avenues in gaming, and simultaneously experience the latest technologies introduced to PC gaming. Over the past years we have conducted more than 150 events across 20 cities which has helped us connect with more than 10,000 gamers. There are 15 million PC gamers in India out of which 1 million are in Telangana, and the state has a potential to go up to 2.5 million gamers, thanks to the recently launched world-class facility IMAGE Tower. We hope to forge more such collaborations in the future to develop the gaming community in India."
At the event, NVIDIA showcased GeForce GTX graphic cards featuring the latest Pascal architecture. The participants experienced cutting-edge technologies including Virtual Reality and 4K. South Korean multinational LG showcased its gaming monitor line-up including the top-of-the-line 21:9 Curved Ultrawide monitors with G-Sync technology and the 2018 line-up in an exclusive preview.
