The police on Tuesday booked cases against 3 Telangana leaders, including Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao, for making provocative statements and calling on Telangana people to attack houses of ministers and MPs who refuse to resign for the cause of a separate Telangana state.
The police have also booked cases against Telangana Employees' JAC leaders Swami Goud and Vithal for trying to provoke police personnel of the Telangana region to join the general strike.
One case has been booked against TRS chief KCR at Saifabad police station, for inciting Telangana people to attack houses of ministers and MPs who refuse to resign for statehood. It may be mentioned that KCR had made these statements while addressing a meeting of electricity employees union at the Mint Compound last month.
KCR has been booked under Section 153 (A) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of the Indian Penal Code, police sources said.
Swamy Goud and Vithal have been booked under sections of the Police Forces Act, 1966. They were charged with instigating policemen to revolt.
Police took suo moto action against the Telangana leaders 2 weeks after they made the statements.
The police registered cases against them a day after Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said the government would adopt a "zero tolerance policy" against those who try to disturb the law and order situation. (INN)
