Responding to a call given by the founder president of the YSR Telangana Party Y S Sharmila that she would visit CM K Chandrashekar Rao's Assembly constituency Gajwel, the Hyderabad police reached her house today and kept her under house arrest.
Heavy police deployment was made near her residence at Lotus Pond, and there was high tension in the area as a result.
Sharmila expressed her displeasure over the police action in a unique fashion by giving a welcome aarti to the police in protest against their behaviour.
She also observed a fast at her residence until the evening.
Speaking to the media, Sharmila lashed out at KCR alleging that he was building big castles for himself while ignoring the allotment of houses to the homeless poor families.
"Are people merely voting machines for the CM?" she asked, claiming that the CM instantly disappeared after getting the votes of the people and slept like Kumbhakarna.
She also asked the CM if he did not feel any shame in sitting in the chair of the chief minister while the people of Gajwel lived in huts.
Sharmila also termed the BRS leaders as the state committee of dacoits, and asked if even a single scheme had been implemented properly in the state. "It is being said that irregularities are taking place in the Dalit Bandhu scheme in all the constituencies. KCR himself sat with the MLAs and spoke to them about the intelligence report with him on the irregularities in the scheme," she said, and asked why no action was taken despite all the charges of corruption in the implementation of the scheme.
She also alleged that the Dalit Bandhu benefits were being given only to BRS leaders and workers. "Of the 17 lakh dalits in the state, only 36,000 have benefited from the Dalit Bandhu scheme so far. What about the rest of them?" she asked, and said that the scheme could not be in the hands of the MLAs, and that its modalities should be placed before the entire public of the state.
