PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana, on Tuesday, justified the expulsion of six Seemandhra MPs from the Congress party.
Speaking to media personnel at Gandhi Bhavan, Botsa said that the expulsion of the MPs would not affect the strength of the Congress party in the state. Further, he said that their expulsion was not connected with the Telangana Bill.
He said that the Congress party has given complete freedom to its leaders to express their views on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He said that the legislators were allowed to freely express their views on Telangana and that similar permissions have also been given to the MPs.
However, Botsa alleged that the MPs had hatched a conspiracy to attack the Congress party in order to join other parties, and that, as part of that conspiracy, they had moved the No-Confidence Motion. He said that the Seemandhra MPs used the bifurcation issue as a tool for their own political gains.
Botsa also dismissed reports that Congress would have no candidates to contest the next elections. "There are over 500 aspirants for the Congress ticket for each seat in the State", he claimed. (INN)
